Ingredients
- 5 lbs medium ground beef
- 3 cups grated onion
Seasoning mix
- 3 tbsp salt
- 5 tbsp chili powder
- 4 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
Other additions
- 2 qts tomato juice
- 2 to 4 dried red chiles
Instructions
- Spread the ground beef loosely across the bottom of a large skillet or pot. Cook on medium heat.
- Add the grated onion and stir as the meat cooks.
- Mix the seasonings in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the simmering beef and onions. Let it cook for about 30 minutes.
- Pour in the tomato juice and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the dried red chiles for heat.
Storage
- Refrigerate at least 8 hours. Reheat and serve. Freezes well.
