Pyramids to the Promised Land, Day 07

No one: Hey, it would be fun to revisit your trip to Egypt, Jordan, and Israel in 2019. For the next few days, you should post letters describing each day.

Me: Say less

Dear Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well. Today has been filled with awe-inspiring moments as we journeyed through the lands where Jesus once walked. Early this morning, we embarked on a peaceful boat ride across the serene waters of the Sea of Galilee. The beauty of the landscape, with its breathtaking views, reminded me of the passages in the Bible where Jesus calmed the stormy sea and even walked upon its surface. It was a remarkable experience, like witnessing those miraculous events firsthand.

Our first destination was Nof Ginosar, where we encountered the incredible First Century Fishing Boat discovered beneath the sea. This ancient vessel provided a tangible connection to the past, bringing to life the stories of Jesus and his disciples traversing these waters. The boat’s preservation was a testament to the enduring power of history and faith.

Continuing our journey, we visited significant biblical sites such as Capernaum, Tabgha, and the Mount of Beatitudes. Each location held its own significance, resonating with the teachings and miracles of Jesus as recounted in the scriptures. Standing amidst these sacred grounds, I couldn’t help but reflect on the profound impact of Jesus’ ministry on those who witnessed it firsthand.

In the afternoon, we explored Magdala, a place steeped in history and spirituality. This ancient synagogue, dating back to the first century AD, provided insight into the daily lives of Jesus’ contemporaries. As we walked through the ruins, I couldn’t help but imagine Mary Magdalene and Peter, and their connection to this place. It was a humbling experience to be in the presence of such rich history.

Our journey then took us along the Rift Valley, tracing the path Jesus often traveled to Jerusalem. Along the way, we visited Beit She’an, a site teeming with evidence of ancient civilizations. From Egyptian relics to Roman theaters and Byzantine mosaics, each artifact told a story of the diverse cultures that once thrived in this region. It was a reminder of the enduring legacy of human civilization and the passage of time. Our day concluded with a poignant visit to the Jordan River.

As the day draws to its close, we settle into our accommodations in Tiberias for a well-deserved rest. Dinner awaits us, along with the comfort of knowing we have experienced something extraordinary. I am grateful for this opportunity to journey through the Holy Land and to witness firsthand the places where Jesus lived, taught, and performed miracles. May God continue to guide and bless us on our travels.

With love and prayers,

‌~PW 🌮🛶
