Doubt is like an unwelcome guest that sometimes barges into our faith journey. It can leave us questioning not only ourselves but even God’s very existence and trustworthiness. But let’s not just dismiss doubts – they’re like little alarms signaling us to dive deeper into the bedrock of our faith. When those moments of uncertainty come knocking, here are some things to consider.
Our View of God Matters (Ephesians 3:20) Doubt often starts when we underestimate God’s power. If our faith isn’t built on the belief that God can do far more than we can imagine, it becomes shaky when faced with challenges. So, raise your view of God – it’s the foundation of a strong faith.
Trust in God’s Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:1-5) When doubt creeps in, remember that worldly wisdom often clashes with the wisdom of the cross. Trust in the power of God’s wisdom, not human reasoning.
Focus on the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:58) The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith. It gives us hope and ensures that our efforts for God are not in vain. Doubt erodes hope, and that’s why the resurrection is of utmost importance.
Don’t Compare Yourself to the World (Psalm 73) When we start comparing our lives to those who seem to thrive in worldly success, doubts can creep in. Instead, focus on the eternal perspective. Earthly success isn’t the ultimate measure of our worth.
Eternity Matters (Hebrews 11:24-26; 2 Corinthians 4:18) Keep your eyes on the bigger picture – eternity. Moses endured hardship because he was looking to the eternal reward. Our faith becomes meaningful when we see it in the light of eternity.
Doubts may challenge your faith, but they also provide growth opportunities. Don’t ignore questions; confront them honestly. And always keep the most essential matters in the proper perspective. After all, faith matters because eternity matters.
